Hi guys,

after switching to elogind couple of weeks ago I finally removed consolekit and did an emerge --depclean where a lot of packages were removed.

Since that it seems I ran into the same problem like the OP.
In my case DBUS is already running and I can use startx with changing permissions on tty0 and tty7 to the user. Bad thing is there is no mouse or
keyboard working.
I followed the non-root-xorg Wiki but that didn't help so far.
As there is mentioned something about a trace of pam_elogind.so and changing the config files in /etc/ I don't really know what I can try now.
The switch to elogind was pretty simple following the wiki but there is nothing mentioned about /etc/ config files or the trace of pam_elogind.so.

I went through different wiki pages and threads in this forum but could not solve that issue.
I normally use xdm starting sddm and not the startx option.

Good hints highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Create a new thread and post there outpus of those running on tty1 after you login, like:

- groups
- loginctl list
- loginctl user-status
- ps aux |grep dbus
- grep -r elogind /etc/pam.d/

Piggybacking on other users' threads creates only confusion.
