|
|
Overnight I updated everything, and a while ago I rebooted. Then I found out xfce4-terminal has some terribly wrong font as well as very wrong expanded character spacing. In the preferences, the current font was 'None' and the list seemed to include Truetype fonts, but no Postscript.
It seems pango is the culprit. I've been on ~amd64 since forever, but for whatever reason, I passively kept running pango-1.42.4-r2 since January. In the meantime, 1.42.4 became stable and others were added/keyworded/unmasked/etc. Last night I moved up to 1.48.4 and that did it. I tried 1.44.7 and 1.48.3 but 1.48.3 also misbehaved in the same way and 1.44.7 showed the 'missing glyph' boxed codepoints in hex. So >=1.43 is masked now.
The 'problem' is probably that I am still running old xfce 4.14, and in particular libxfce4ui-4.14.1, because that temporarily avoids a different problem. |

Looks more like you are not running ~amd64, but mixed, and mixed can be a really bad idea. _________________ Andy Figueroa

Off-topic: What do you mean when you say 'mixed'? A bad idea implies having any idea, and all I ever did intentionally was to block unwanted updates to a handful of things. |
