I got this error when trying to emerge world. I don't have systemd enabled in my make.conf only elogind so why am I getting this error?

Code:
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies
 * IMPORTANT: 1 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news read to view new items.

... ...... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy ">=sys-apps/dbus-1.9.8[systemd]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-apps/dbus-1.12.20-r1::gentoo (Change USE: +systemd, this change violates use flag constraints defined by sys-apps/dbus-1.12.20-r1: 'at-most-one-of ( elogind systemd )')
(dependency required by "sys-apps/systemd-247.2-r4::gentoo" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "kde-plasma/plasma-firewall-5.21.4::gentoo" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "@kde-plasma-5.21" [set])
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

Code:
kde-plasma/plasma-firewall
This package is no longer usable without systemd, thus the issue.

Your choices are:
  • Switch to systemd.
  • Remove the package.
  • Mask newer versions and hope that someone creates a systemd-free version again in the future.
  • Override the dependency and hope that the package will work correctly anyway. This will probably not work.

As requested, I removed the package and masked it. I still get this error when emerging world:

Code:
emerge --sync

It seems you are using a set @kde-plasma-5.21 that is still pulling in the package.

Sets are fine if you want to install all contents of it; they are not configurable. Why didn't you install kde-plasma/plasma-meta in the first place?

I wanted to install all the packages of KDE so I also included emerging kde-plasma/plasma-meta. But I still get the dbus error?

But I'm telling you that you installed @kde-plasma-5.21 set, evidence here:

Gentoo KDE wiki does not mention sets anywhere: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/KDE

Well, I don't know how that happened because I did not use SET to emerge all of KDE, I just emerged each of the components. I don't even know how to use SET to emerge KDE.

So what does this mean? Do I have to uninstall KDE for this Dbus error since it gives me this error? Or am I using the wrong emerge command since it keeps pulling down the plasma-plasma package?

The command I used to emerge is:
Code:

emerge -avuND --with-bdeps=y @world

I will tell you how @kde-plasma-5.21 entered your system:
Code:
# emerge @kde-plasma-5.21

...and that line certainly didn't type itself. ;)

So, drop that set:
Code:
# emerge --deselect @kde-plasma-5.21

Make sure instead plasma-meta is in your world file:
Code:
# emerge --noreplace kde-plasma/plasma-meta
