1) when switching off monitor & on again, pcmanfm:
- Icons on desktop disappears.
- Streched wallpaper displays unstreached.
2) Lxpanel disappears.
To workaround such issues, I've set a desktop file for restarting each app.
Maybe someone has faced similar issues, with a better way to fix any of these...

I haven't been running the full LXDE, but just Openbox with PCManFM managing the desktop and LXPanel, both ~amd64. I'm not experiencing anything like this. _________________ Andy Figueroa

Resurrecting this thread for possible advice. I ran into a sudden wallpaper issue with using PCManFM to run the desktop under OpenBox (pcmanfm --desktop). I "solved" it by ditching PCManFM to run the desktop and using feh to manage wallpaper. I don't really need the desktop icons.
Also, if I run the full LXDE, I don't have the wallpaper problem.
I've had no issues with LXPanel.
On my collocated and up-to-date x86 machine is not experiencing the wallpaper issue. Copying the x86 machines .config/pcmanfm to my main desktop machine didn't fix anything. Therefore, it's not a simple configuration issue. _________________ Andy Figueroa

Greetings,
I am also running LXDE over Openbox and have another issue with lxpanel after a recent @world update:
I run LXDE with the panel at the bottom of the screen. Now, when I mouse over almost anything on the panel, the tooltip shows at the top of the screen rather than directly above the item I am mousing over; the date from Clock, Volume Control level, applications in the taskbar, info from the Desktop Switcher all appear at the top of the screen now, correctly positioned horizontally.
The only exception are items in the systray; Guake terminal, Slack and M$ Teams keep their tooltips directly above them.
I was wondering if anyone else had seen this behavior or maybe had some insight to it?
Thanks in advance for your assistance. _________________ ________________________

I'm not aware of an LXPanel general pop-up configuration. When the panel is at the top, where I have mine, most pop-ups show up immediately below the item. By default, putting the panel on the left, the pop-ups show up just to the right of the item.
However, as regards OpenBox, see if you have the following section in ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml
Code: | <resize>
<drawContents>yes</drawContents>
<popupShow>Nonpixel</popupShow>
<!-- 'Always', 'Never', or 'Nonpixel' (xterms and such) -->
<popupPosition>Center</popupPosition>
<!-- 'Center', 'Top', or 'Fixed' -->
<popupFixedPosition>
<!-- these are used if popupPosition is set to 'Fixed' -->
<x>10</x>
<!-- positive number for distance from left edge, negative number for
distance from right edge, or 'Center' -->
<y>10</y>
<!-- positive number for distance from top edge, negative number for
distance from bottom edge, or 'Center' -->
</popupFixedPosition>
</resize> |
Making manual changes to rc.xml do not take affect immediately. Run the following to have OpenBox re-read it's configuration:
Code: | openbox --reconfigure |
See "man openbox" or "openbox --help" for full options.
You might consider joining the lxde forum at: https://forum.lxde.org/ and searching for or posting the issue there.
Also, there is an OpenBox wiki: http://openbox.org/wiki/Main_Page _________________ Andy Figueroa

Greetings figueroa,
And, thank you for the reply.
BTW, just as an "apples-to-apples" comparison, where do the tooltips show up when you align your panel to the bottom of the screen?
And, yes, I have that section within the config file "lxde-rc.xml" (Could be that the file got the new name from using the lxde-base/lxde-meta package?) and it reads the same as what you show there. However, I don't see anything else that would look like a config for the tooltips there.
And, I have already posted the same question to the LXDE forums... It's gotten a number of views, but no responses yet.
Thanks again for your assistance. _________________ ________________________

When the panel is at the bottom, some tooltips align with the panel, and others pop up at the top of the screen. _________________ Andy Figueroa

Thank you for confirming that, Figueroa.
Most appreciated. So, you saw basically the same behavior I was originally describing, correct? e.g. things in the Systray keep their tooltips with them, but for everything else, tooltips show up at the top of the screen when the lxpanel is on the bottom of the screen.
Thanks again for your assistance. _________________ ________________________

The way I would describe it is that the lxpanel plugins' and regular applications' tooltips pop up at the top of the screen, even when the panel is on the bottom. The sytray items behave as one would expect and seem to follow panel location. Noting again that I'm running lxpanel as a stand-alone under openbox and prefer the panel at the top. _________________ Andy Figueroa

Greetings again,
Yeah, I don't care for the panel at the top of the screen as I also use the Guake terminal, too. I'd rather still have access to the panel (and the Menu button) when I have the guake terminal open.
But, thank you for the suggestion. I may reformat the description of the issue on the LXDE post.
Thanks again for your assistance. _________________ ________________________
