I'm looking for something I could use to conveniently track several personal projects, so more ticketing than bugtracking.
Jira looks pretty nice (and I've been using it for a while at work), but it's also bloated and I'm unlikely to setup my own, private instance.

I have tried at least bugzilla, mantis, and redmine, and they are all on the clunky side of things. I suppose I could make a better one, but - of course - it would be nice to track my progress in the meantime, and once I have this, there is no reason to roll my own

I want to:
create tickets in a few unrelated areas/projects
change/track their statuses
add comments
have some search options

Now, technically all those things can be done in a spreadsheet, but already know I'd never touch that abomination again after creating the initial draft.

Any suggestions?

If you mean integration between the ticketing system and the git repository, I don't really care about it. I can write a comment when I have something important enough to remember.
I just want the basic things to actually work, and work smoothly.

E.g. some of those ticketing systems required like 5 clicks to do a simple status change. In jira It usually takes 1 button.
4 clicks may seem insignificant, but those numbers add up to the frustration really fast, and I want this thing to assist me rather than punish me. I'm a good boi, k?

You don't have to use the git part, you can also create a non-code project where you only open issues.
Moreover you can also use command line tools so you don't have to do any clicking (e.g. github-cli).

Ah... you meant using github or gitlab for their bugtracking system.
Well, that's something I didn't think about. I know gitlab is reasonably easy to self-host, though it's definitely on the heavy end in terms of resource requirements. I'll check it out.

Any other options?

Oh, one more thing that would be really nice to have: custom workflows. IMO it's still pretty basic feature though.
