Code: | ioatdma: Intel(R) QuickData Technology Driver 5.00
apr 12 13:55:21 POERYZEN kernel: idxd driver failed to load without MOVDIR64B.

I got this strange message in my kernel log. I thought the MOVDIR64B was part of the AMD 3900X instruction set ? Is it not implemented in GCC 10?
Can anybody explain why i got this message ? Never saw it before on gcc 9.X or 5.4.72.
I am using 5.10.27 Code: | Linux version 5.10.27-gentooSYSTEMD_ZEN_210415 (root@POERYZEN) (gcc (Gentoo 10.2.0-r5 p6) 10.2.0, GNU ld (Gentoo 2.35.1 p2) 2>
Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-5.10.27-gentooSYSTEMD_ZEN_210415 root=/dev/nvme0n1p8 ro init=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd acpi_>
KERNEL supported cpus:
AMD AuthenticAMD
x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x001: 'x87 floating point registers'
x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x002: 'SSE registers'
x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x004: 'AVX registers'
x86/fpu: xstate_offset[2]: 576, xstate_sizes[2]: 256
x86/fpu: Enabled xstate features 0x7, context size is 832 bytes, using 'compacted' format. |
Motherboard is ASROCK Phantom GAMING X with X570

I thought the MOVDIR64B was part of the AMD 3900X instruction set ?
Have you tried a "lscpu"? |

I am 100% certain it is a 3900X amd processor. So lscpu does not give me anything new.
But it turned out I had a defective M2 750 EVO from Samsung. Waiting now for replacement... _________________ Linuxpioneer

I don't think Zen2 has MOVDIR64B support, Zen3 certainly doesn't advertise it.
EDIT: the idxd driver is for hardware available only on upcoming intel sapphire rapids xeons. |
