Ok, I admit, I haven't rebooted to my Gentoo for 2-3 weeks, and tonight I did so. I did "emerge rsync" and then I did "emerge -p -u world" just to check what updates I will need to do. But instead of show me the updates I get this error:

These are the packages that I would merge, in order.
Calculating world dependencies -
!!! Error: couldn't find match for ">=gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.0.2" in gnome-base/gnome-2.0.1_rc1

Any ideas how to fix this? :-(

Oops, it seems that more people had the exact same problems as I did:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=11201

I indeed also had the man5k problem as described on the above URL, and upgrading to the latest portage, fixed it (as also did for the guys). But also as these guys described, we all now get the gnome vfs error.

Gentoo devs, please help us! Something is wrong here! :o)

I am not running the latest Gnome btw. I think I am running the first or second unmasked version of Gnome 2, installed about 1 month ago, while I had to manually re-emerge gconf at some point, because it was not playing nice.

It looks like a typo in the packages.mask file; I think Spider intended to keep 2.0.1_rc1 masked for now. Try changing the line:
Code:
>=gnome-base/gnome-2.0.1-rc1

...to...
Code:
>=gnome-base/gnome-2.0.1_rc1
... in /usr/portage/profiles/packages.mask.

I tried that and it seemed to get past that error but now I am getting the following error when running emerge -up world.
Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Code:

!!Error: couldn't find match for ~sys-libs/glibc-2.2.5 in update (likely old /var/db/pkg entry).
