Using Enlightenment on Gentoo in Virtualbox and at startup I'm getting
Quote:
Compositor Warning: Your display driver does not support OpenGL, GLSL shaders or no OpenGL engines were compiled or installed for Evas or Ecore-Evas. Falling back to software engine. You will need an OpenGl 2.0 (or OpenGL ES 2.0) capable GPU to use OpenGL with compositing.

With
Code:
glxinfo | grep 'OpenGL'

I'm getting
Code:
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa/X.org
OpenGL renderer string: llvmpipe (LLVM 11.1.0, 128 bits)
OpenGL core profile version string: 4.5 (Core Profile) Mesa 20.3.4
OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.50
OpenGL core profile context flags: (none)
OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile
OpenGL core profile extensions:
OpenGL version string: 3.1 Mesa 20.3.4
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.40
OpenGL context flags: (none)
OpenGL extensions:
OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.2 Mesa 20.3.4
OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.20
OpenGL ES profile extensions:

so clearly I have it (or the drivers or whatever) installed. Is it just not detecting it?

Virtualbox uses some weird virtual display card and probably will not support opengl..
Please try bare metal instead
Edit:you might get some limited opengl functionality if you install guest-additions...

Should've mentioned, I did install the guest additions. I do not think this is a problem with VirtualBox (specifically, anyways).

Shidouuu,

Welcome to Gentoo.

llvmpipe is the software renderer.

Please post your
Code:
lspci -nnk
from inside virtualbox.
emerge wgetpaste if you don't already have it and use it te put the following items onto a pastebin site

1, The output of dmesg. So we can see what your kernel did on startup.
2. The content of /var/log/Xorg.0.log. So we can see what Xorg did when it started.
3. Your kernel /usr/src/linux/.config so we can see the kernel set up and advise if and how it needs to be changed.

As this is Virtualbox, do you have acceleration ticked in the Virtualbox VM setup?
I'm not sure if you need the VBox Guest Additions installed in the Guest or not.
