Welcome to gentoo forum.
There is a reason why you try to install a package not even released upstream? _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Moved from Portage & Programming to Unsupported Software.
Welcome to Gentoo.
ebuilds with version numbers ending in 9999 pull from the like upstream repo.
If the ebuild does something wrong, that's a bug. If the package does not build, that's a feature of live ebuilds.
sys-devel/clang-13.* is not supported in Gentoo, yet.
Code: | get_llvm_prefix: invalid max_slot=13 | it looks like the ebuild is protecting you from yourself. _________________ Regards,

I just wanted to try the latest for no particular reason other than maybe placebo.

I saw that error too, I just wasn't sure if it was normal. Thanks for the clarification.
Is it possible to install it anyway like if I had two versions installed? Thank you for your time. |

supremmotu,
sys-devel/clang is slotted but it looks like the existing slotting does not work for slot=13.
The short answer is, yes, this is Gentoo, so anything is possible.
The long answer is to fix the ebuild and supporting eclasses may be a lot of work.
Even then as its a live ebuild, you may decide to install it in the middle of the developers pushing code to the repo.
It may not compile. If it compiles, it way not work. Worse, it may compile and run but produce buggy output. _________________ Regards,

I see you have -O3, it works better with --omg-optimized also enabled. _________________ Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think. |

Buffoon,
Haha thanks. It just feels nice to have the latest stuff I guess. I think I'll just stick to clang 11. |

If it's for the placebo effect, just don't do it if you value your operating system. See: https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian _________________ Andy Figueroa

I can confirm Clang 13 compiles fine now. I haven't faced any problems either. |
