I've been running plasma/systemd for years. A little while back my profile was obsoleted so I updated that but neglected to selected default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop/plasma/systemd and went with the default 17.1 This week, I did an emerge --depclean and world update and when I reboot I am suddenly running gnome. I fixed profile to default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop/plasma/systemd, did another world update, rebooted, and still I'm running Gnome.
/etc/sddm.conf hasn't changed in a long long time. Neither has /etc/conf.d/xdm. I am still running sddm. I'm just getting gnome-shell instead of plasma. What gives? |

Apparently, this is configured in /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf, a file and a directory that did not previous exist. I don't know where this was set before. I am back into Plasma now. |
