Lost gnome application settings

I've got some serious problems with some of the gnome applications.
After a reboot suddendly every gnome application lost it's settings.

For example. I do have an evolution directory in my home dir. But if I start evolution it will show a wizard to configure new email adresses.
I've got very important mail inside the evolution directory, how do I get those back?

This also counts for galeon, gaim and other gnome applications.
Has it something to do with gconf or something?
