Hello,
I am trying to get the XP-Pen Artist 12 to work.
I had it working nicely under Debian bullseye (current testing), but now I am having problems with Gentoo.
The device controls the mouse pointer until I load the first time their "driver", which is a UI program that needs to run while you use the tablet. Afterward the hardware buttons send keystrokes, but the mouse cursor does not move anymore. When stopping their driver, it doesn't work either.
I now even found a much more recent driver than on their homepage here: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xp-p ... ent-781195
It also features a diagnostics tool, which outputs the pressure level and coordinates. They are displayed correctly in the tool and the older (1.x) tool in Debian worked fine either.
I suspect that it is something in how the X-Server detects input devices or how the user can access device nodes for usb functions. I added my user account to input, plugdev and usb groups, but that the driver outputs in ints own interface the correct values seems also to show that it is no missing permission or kernel driver. But I am not sure if I may be missing something in the gentoo X11 server or if something needs to be configured, which is configured automatically in Debian.
The new driver version brings its own udev rule, so the autodetection should work, too.
What may be the problem? Or does someone have such a tablet and got it to work?
