My system got a bit out of date and due to problematic dependencies, so I re-installed, but quickly ran into problems after adding "X" to my USE set to re-build emacs.

    Code: Select all

    # emerge -1vUD @world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Thanks. I bumped to 0.9.16, but why is 0.9.13 still there if it's broken? Is there something I have to specify somewhere to make sure I don't get old and broken ebuilds? I just did an install and sync today and the bug entry is from 2018.

I've filed this bug for stabilisation of a fixed version. This was just an oversight, apologies.

No apologies required. I should thank you for your contribution. I was just wondering if I had missed some version tracking settings or similar. I've been too busy to update my systems, and now I have to catch up and re-installing seem to be the simplest way, unless there's a way to strip everything down to an up to date portage and re-build the world.

I reckon with 36 packages, you're not too bad there. It looks you just got unlucky in this instance (older libotf with new enough fontconfig or something like that).

You could use emerge --deselect to remove things from your world file then emerge --depclean pkg to help clean things up, but it looks like there aren't any blockers or conflicts in your output, fortunately! I dare say this is quite a simple case, but I might regret that..

Oh, and remember to use -u for update.

(BTW, for Emacs, it's now USE=GUI, just so you do not get a surprise).
