Sparc Classic

Code:
cpu             : Texas Instruments, Inc. - MicroSparc
fpu             : TI MicroSparc on chip FPU
promlib         : Version 3 Revision 2
prom            : 2.9
type            : sun4m
ncpus probed    : 1
ncpus active    : 1
BogoMips        : 49.66
MMU type        : TI Tsunami
contexts        : 64
nocache total   : 1048576
nocache used    : 141824

Basically I did this:
Booted from 1.4rc5 live cd. Untarred the stage3, emerge sync, emerge -u system.

A few days passed... and then

I got a screen full of "warning null character(s) ignored" on glibc-2.3.2-r3 ibm1004.c line 939.

The last line said

Code:
ibm1004.c:939 confused by earlier errors, bailing out
{standard input}: Assembler messages:
{standard input}:1018: Error: symbol 'P' is already defined
{standard input}:1024: Error: symbol 'P' is already defined

Followed by the usual Function src_compile failed blah blah blah

What do you think? A bug or something else? I've got swap enabled, so I know that I didn't run out of memory.

Here's some vitals:

I tried again today, only to find the same thing but on line 1084 (IIRC)

Very frustrating! I'm stumped unless there is a different version of glibc to use.

Sounds like you need more memory. The least you'll get away with for glibc compiles is about 300MBytes (can include swap).

I guess I could drop it in my SS5. It has 256MB + 256mb of swap so that should be sufficient.

Or not... I moved the drive to my SS5 with 256mb ram + 256mb swap
