Command and Conquer... HAH!

Don't get me started...

Crap game for which the engine basically did not change since the original release: Dune 2.

How Westwood got away with releasing so many games without changing anything other than the graphics, I'll never know. It's sickening really. They've made a fortune off of being unoriginal, uninnovative, and unchanging.

I couldn't believe it when even the 3D version used the same underlying game engine with some of the same bugs since Dune 2 - such as if you accidently attacked the floor, your units would shoot at that whilst the enemy picks them off.

Bollocks. Now I'm in a bad mood. Cheap bastards.

If you managed to install the game, try a no-cd crack to avoid the copy protection (your problem sounds like that).

No wonder. If you force attack (thats what Ctrl + click does) your units to shoot the ground, they will shoot the ground till something stops them. Things that can stop them are either: You order them to stop (s button), you force them to move (click), you force them to shoot something else (click) or they die.

C&C, C&C:RA, C&C:TS and C&C:RA2 were good games. They lost the ball abit on Emperor and Generals.

If you cant handle their interface, go play Warcraft. Personally, I don't like Warcrafts interface, so I don't play it.

i have to agree with CharlieG ...Dune2 was fuuuuun, C&C was fun, C&C:RA was a bit boring, i expected a lot more ...after that i just tried to play "newer" C&C games for some times, but i just couldn't ...call me spoilt, call me posh ...but C&C ain't all that.
...pretty much the same applies to WarCraft in my opinion. wc1 was nice, wc2 was a bit cartoonish, but had more possibilites, starcraft bites, wc3 ...well, i swear if "lord antrax" didn't die, i'd kill him personally (actually i did quite a few times - he REALLY got on my nerves!!!), also the story was pretty weak and way too predictable.

i agree, gameplay way before graphics ...but in all (most) latest (win*) games i don't see very much gameplay anymore ...don't even anyone mention Halo - don't get me started!!

I actually have been able to get the game to run. But, it's really slow, like around 1 FPS for me, which is unusual. And before anyone asks, Yes I have 3D working fine (ATI 9800).

I agree, bad engine. Good game, though. I have Generals + Zero Hour and I love it...

So far, the Quake engine (MOHAA, ET, etc. etc.) is the best. In my opinion. I think it yields the best quality graphics at the highest framerates.

Worst engines are Battlefield 1942 and Command and Conquer (though they are some of the best games out there if your machine can handle them).

Excuse my english. I'm American but I'm tired right now. ;)
