Fail to load nct6775 during boot

Since I changed my motherboard from the ASRock B450 Pro to the ASUS X370 Crosshair VI Hero, I've been getting an error "Fail to load nct6775" during boot. It seems to be related to lm_sensors, because `sensors` now only reports CPU, GPU and another PCI temp. The system runs perfectly fine otherwise, so this is not any serious problem at all, but I'm just curious to figure out what's up. Any ideas?

If you have a new motherboard, it is no surprise that it has other sensor chips and therefore needs other kernel modules. You should again run sensors-detect to see what is needed and generate a new config. You should also look at your kernel config and select the right set of i2c modules.

From what I have gathered, the error "Failed to load nct6775" is caused by not having

Code: Select all

CONFIG_SENSORS_NCT6775

enabled in your kernel configuration.

After I enabling that, my X570 system went from that error to

Code: Select all

nct6775: Found NCT6798D or compatible chip at 0x2e:0x290

and I am now able to see more detailed information about my motherboard voltages and fan rpms.
