How do I change the title of a running xterm? I have spent hours searching - and found lots of answers - but nothing seems to actually work. Typing the following in the xterm window almost works, but it also changes the prompt and I only want the title to change.
Code:
PS1="echo -ne \"\033]0;foo\007\""

Finally found what works :)
Code:
xdotool getactivewindow set_window --name NewName

Would be interested in a more light weight solution, so alternatives are welcome.
