gnome-terminal/kb shortcuts (gnome2.6)

Hi -

With gnome2.6, setting "switch to previous tab" to shift-left arrow (like I used with gnome2.2/4) causes a capital "D" to appear in the term window. "switch to next tab" set to shift-right arrow causes a capital "C" to apear (shift up/dn arrow cause "A" and "B" to appear. Anyone know where this is coming from and how to stop shift-arrow to stop printing letters?
