Hi, all.

I'm impressed by AirVPN, on my Debian based boxes, and would like to use it on Gentoo. The client currently uses OpenVPN, and I've included the download link, below. Has anyone else managed to set up AirVPN?

https://airvpn.org/linux/

Many thanks,

Chris

Yes. You just generate the config from their site, then follow https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/OpenVPN and maybe https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/VPN_Services for some general hints.

Hi, AirVPN user here

I'm just using the config file from their generator, not the Eddie client (iirc it requires mono to run, I remember trying it once, it didn't work :s)

Once you get the config file suiting your needs, you got 2 ways:
- use a terminal, and sudo openvpn yourconfigfile.conf
or
- use Gentoo openvpn service:
add these lines to the config file generated by airvpn site
Code:
script-security 2
up /etc/openvpn/up.sh
down /etc/openvpn/down.sh

rename the file to openvpn.conf
copy it in /etc/openvpn, then
Code:
rc-update add openvpn default

and voilà, vpn service will now run just before you login
you can also use rc-service openvpn start if you don't wanna reboot

The only "downside" using the openvpn service is it takes a few seconds more to boot

Is there an ebuild floating around for eddie-ui ?

https://eddie.website/
https://github.com/AirVPN/Eddie

For now, I use the mono portable version (which works fine as long as you don't set USE="+minimal" to mono  ), it would be nice to have an ebuild for it.
