I used the cat-installer provided by eduroam to our uni to produce wpa_supplicant.conf. After having problems I contacted the help desk via email and they told me to try add in .conf this line
Code:
phase1="peapver=0"

but it didn't help.I also tried peap versions auto and 1. Other than that they didn't really care just basically told me that there is only support for lts ubuntu I have double checked the id and password and this connection works in opensuse with networkmanager. My home network with wpa2 work just fine.

I get the following when I try to connect in debug mode with command wpa_supplicant -Dnl80211 -iwlp2s0 -C/var/run/wpa_supplicant/ -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -dd

https://pastebin.com/u7NqhAC4
from which I guess the relevant is in the end

Code:

EAP: Received EAP-Failure
EAP: Status notification: completion (param=failure)
EAP: EAP-Success Id mismatch - reqId=255 lastId=1
EAP: EAP entering state DISCARD
EAP: EAP entering state IDLE

/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
Code:

ctrl_interface=/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=0
ap_scan=1
update_config=1

network={
        ssid="eduroam"
        key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
        pairwise=CCMP
        group=CCMP TKIP
        eap=PEAP
        ca_cert="/home/tzycce/.cat_installer/ca.pem"
        identity="my_id@myuni.com"
        altsubject_match="my-uni.com"
        phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
        password="mypass"
        anonymous_identity=""
}

it will certainly help since it's a bit hard to read wpa_supplicant's logs. Thanks, I'll look into this more closely next week since I'm away for the rest of the week.
