So you will fight to death for the ventilators, maybe they will show the fights on TV .....

PS that was the worst case scenario ......... probably it will be better.

Yea, the fight over VPN seats is vicious. I think on Thursday, we had three times as many people trying to connect as seats.

What about mead? The honneybrew. A wine/beer made for a sip.
I hated it though. I know, almost criminal offence....or is it? Is it?!
Sorry for being ot.. I am. Go on. I will not interfere anymore.

Well alchool kills the virus so it is more profitable to sell it to make desinfectants than drinks .... high spirits are beginning to be hard to find.

There is also this new mouth spray made with the finest mild grappa 70 proof to fight COVID-19

I wonder how avocado sales are going. I skipped them because you have to feel a bunch of them to find a good one.

Thankfully, I just pluck them from a tree. I probably need to revoke my "white guy" card, as I despise mayo. When I need food lube, avocado is my thing.

While a BLT is good, being someone who hates mayo, I prefer the LGBT (Lettuce, Guac, Bacon Tomato).

Also, pro-tip from my wife. Sliced avocado is very similar to maguro sashimi in texture. So 1/2 the avocado, remove the seed, separate from the shell, and just slice horizontally. Use shoyu & wasabi, and eat like sashimi.

Japan clearly demonstrates the efficacy of their border control and entrant health evaluations. With the exception of China, this disease entered all of those countries from somewhere else. The effect of number of entries from abroad and evaluation of those entering is relevant to the spread. The local hygienic social norms in response to known or perceived health threats is also relevant.

I traveled through Tokyo during the H1N1 outbreak. Medical personnel and security in bunny suits boarded the aircraft, requiring all to remain seated in their seats. They conducted temperature scans and a cursory evaluation of all. Only after every person on the aircraft was evaluated, and some detained, was anyone allowed off the aircraft.

Then there is this.

Lest we forget, "The new policies contradict advice from the World Health Organization (WHO), which said yesterday that countries should not restrict travel or trade in their response to the new virus."

The Verge tells us there’s little scientific evidence that travel bans stop the spread of a new virus; they can actually hinder efforts to stop the virus because of the “massive social disruption and intensive use of resources required,” says the WHO. ... But it’s not just the president’s racism that’s showing when he halted travel between US and China.

I'll leave it at that, for now.

Japan is one of the countries that counts deaths differently according to the OMS so the numbers are not really directly comparable. But it stopped apparently.

And:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/davekeating/2020/03/12/italy-banned-flights-from-china-before-americait-didnt-work/

We know now that for every case with fever or cough there are 3-5 asymptomatics it is very likely that this is true also in China since they also tested mostly persons with symptoms the real number of infected persons there was at least 3 times higher and even with uncontained exponential growth the epidemic must have started a lot earlier than December.
In Bergamo the hardest hit town in Italy an abnormal peak of viral pneumonia with several deaths had already started in November 2019. The exponential growth is also abnormal in Lombardy, the virus does not grow so fast in the rest of Italy, there are 25 000 cases (3095 deaths) in Lombardy only; the epidemic started a lot earlier than what we think in Lombardy, November-December probably. 10% of the Italian population lives in Lombardy but they have 50% of the cases.
Also in other countries post mortem test showed that patients had the virus months before it was identified in China.

Let's suppose that the infection has started in October (which is entirely possible and consistent with the data we have) in Wuhan (but not in the market) and many of 30 000 of athletes from all over the world that competed in the Military world games spread it around the world months before we did even know it existed? Why is this theory just considered impossible when in fact is a lot more credible? The athletes were all young and healty, most of them were just asyntomatics. Don't you find it strange that it started at the same time in countries so far from each other?
Even if every country had closed all the borders the 31 december when the virus was identified it was probably useless.

Wow, I know you hate the president, but your derangement is really getting to you. Just because the nation had the highest number of flu deaths in forty years under his watch, doesn't mean he is to blame. Things just happen. Who could predict it?
