What's the usual session-management mechanism for this? There appears not to be a login manager based on GNUStep libraries, so do people do a console login, then use startx to launch a WindowMaker-based desktop?

Couldn't you just use XDM if you want a graphical login? I launch WindowMaker that way (but don't use any GNUStep apps.) Actually considering I only ever reboot every month or two I don't really need XDM at all - it's a hangover from years gone by when other family members also used my PC via thin clients.

I don't really need xdm. I'm perfectly happy to do a console login and run startx/WM from there, but I wondered if there was a well-trodden, standard way.
