The usual cure for baloo errors is to delete the baloo datasets (.local/share/baloo) and let it rebuild.
The damned thing seems ludicrously fragile. Someone mentioned "recoll" as an alternative - I'm using that now, but it needs a bit of setting up, and is not as well integrated into KDE.

and screensaver works strangely, starts to blink stupidly and not turn off the screen, but with wayland if the screen goes to sleep then it just breaks, and you have to re-enter and open what you had open, is there a cure?
