|
|
Just a warning. I tried updating to gentoo-sources-5.5.2 and HDMI audio stopped working, just like 5.4.6 if you remember that.
I had to go back to 5.4.13 to get audio back.
If anyone has information about this, I'd appreciate a link.
Thanks. _________________ Some day there will only be free software. |

Just got hit by the same thing, updated the kernel and just got around to using hdmi today. Current kernel 5.5.4 fixed the issue for me. I'm betting this fixed it in 5.5.3

ALSA: hda - Fix DP-MST support for NVIDIA codecs
commit c7e661a1c2ae98a4754db6a85fc686b4a89322ad upstream.
If dyn_pcm_assign is set, different jack objects are being created
for pcm and pins.
If dyn_pcm_assign is set, generic_hdmi_build_jack() calls into
add_hdmi_jack_kctl() to create and track separate jack object for
pcm. Like sync_eld_via_acomp(), hdmi_present_sense_via_verbs() also
need to report status change of the pcm jack.
Rename pin_idx_to_jack() to pin_idx_to_pcm_jack(). Update
hdmi_present_sense_via_verbs() to report plug state of pcm jack
object. Unlike sync_eld_via_acomp(), for !acomp drivers the pcm
jack's plug state must be consistent with plug state
of pin's jack.

I have confirmed that kernel 5.5.5 has no hdmi audio issues. I'm hoping the pulseaudio crash is also fixed, but I won't know for a few days... _________________ Some day there will only be free software. |

I have confirmed that kernel 5.5.5 fixed my pulseaudio crash issues that have been ongoing for months.
Also, surround sound seems to work now, which is nice. _________________ Some day there will only be free software. |
