I have a few different smb shares on my network (linux and windows). I want to be able to type in the IP and browser to them and then play video files through smplayer. I guess there is some sort of issue within smplayer (or possible mplayer/mpv) that doesn't really handle this. When i was using KDE i could just open Dolphin and enter the path in the location entry and include the username and password like smb://username:password/10.0.0.2/share. Now I am using cinnamon and doing this inside of Nemo (i tried it in Nautilus as well) does not work. It will recognize the username but i still get a password box and it doesn't pass the password through in a way that lets mpv play the video file. Is there any way to do this? I know i can add the shares in fstab and mount them but i really don't want to do that. |
