I decided to try firefox-bin instead of firefox, I've uninstalled firefox, did depclean, then I installed firefox-bin
I was expecting to see my profile from firefox but I was greeted with the message that my firefox is old and that I basically have to start with the new profile.
firefox I was using was 71.0-r1 and firefox-bin 71.0
I didn't have bookmarks exported and all the stuff so I uninstalled firefox-bin and installed firefox again.

What seems to be old here and why I can't use my profile from firefox, how are the two different ?
I mean the difference is obvious, source vs binary and use flags but apart from that.
Anyway, is there a way to somehow use profile from firefox in firefox-bin ?

Looks like the problem is in the sqlite versions, system one vs bundled.

Anyway, the biggest problem for me is Top sites list, that's a real pain to redo, seems like that is stored in places.sqlite file as well.

I guess compiling firefox with -system-sqlite would maybe solve this problem, but again It might not, I guess I would face the same issue.

Perhaps there's really nothing to do here except start over with the new profile, import what's possible to import and do the rest manually.

There's a file in your firefox profile folder called .compatibility.ini. Delete it.

EDIT: Backup your profile first.
