I was caught with the QT 5.14 update problem here, Asturm's suggestion appeared to resolve the problem and I took the opportunity to move to the 17.1 profile at the same time.

However since doing so, file operations have caused the parent program to segfault, for example downloading an attachment in Trojita leaves the following in /var/log/messages
Code:
kernel: trojita[10006]: segfault at 1a300000119 ip 00007f28b118b144 sp 00007ffe10d60ad0 error 4 in libQt5Network.so.5.14.0[7f28b116c000+123000]

while drag & drop a file in pcmanfm-qt leaves the following
Code:
kernel: pcmanfm-qt[9783]: segfault at 50 ip 00007f962d1843e2 sp 00007ffe5c48c3c0 error 4 in libQt5Core.so.5.14.0[7f962d10b000+2b4000]

My desktop is lxqt running via x2go and was operating fine before the update. It had previously been a Plasma desktop, which did not function via x2go and there is still a lot of cruft from that setup to clean up.

I have rebuilt dev-qt, lxqt-base amongst others and done emerge -e @system. Short of emerge -e world I have run out of ideas and would be grateful for suggestions.

That output is not particularly useful. Can you capture a core file of the crash, and show the backtrace in gdb? For the backtrace to be useful, you will probably want to build the affected libraries with symbols before triggering the crash.

Hi Hu, thank you for the reply, I decided to do an emerge -e world this morning and it is currently churning. If there is still a problem after that I will read up on debugging and update the thread either way

The emerge -e world has made no difference, I am busy with work today but will update with debug info as soon as I am able
