I had this problem earlier. Reinstalled from scratch, same issue.

SDDM and plasma initially works fine. However before the taskbar appears the screen goes black.

Whoops, forgot to set that.

Same issue with just nvidia enabled.

it could be an upstream bug. I searched for 'segfault libcalendarplugin.so' at Google and returned a couple of results:
  1. One user recommends to disable the calendar as a workaround. See: https://www.mail-archive.com/kde-bugs-dist@kde.org/msg232865.html

  2. One user says that it could be related to an invalid locale setting: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/kde-black-screen-after-login/116268

  3. One user says that Arch published an update a couple of days ago which solved the problem for him. See: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/kde-black-screen-after-login/116268/10
