Hey,

I have got everything up and running, after some days of batteling this distro, and i have loved every moment of it.

But, there is always a but, i can not get my touchpad to work on my laptop, and can not seem to use keyboard to navigate down to input device in kde either.

So i am a little bit lost.

Any help would be much appreciated, i will cooperate with whatever you ask

To start, we need some details about your system. Please pastebin (via app-misc/wgetpaste) your current kernel configuration, the output of lspci (from sys-apps/pciutils), and the output of lsusb (from sys-apps/usbutils). If you have configuration files for your X server (you might not, if you are relying on autoconfiguration), please show those too. They will be the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf and any files under /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ if they exist. Please pastebin your X server log, which traditionally is stored at /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

If you have a mouse, please check whether it works. That will tell us whether your problem is that pointer-based inputs don't work, or that the touchpad specifically does not work. Also, if the mouse does work, you can use that to operate the GUI while we debug your touchpad.

To be sure we work on the right problem, your touchpad is completely inoperable now, correct? Tapping it doesn't produce button-down events, sliding your finger on it doesn't move the pointer, etc.?

I used wgetpaste on the others, but the kernel config was over the limit...

Thanks, now how did you configure xdm and please describe exactly what you see when it 'does not load'.

Did you follow our KDE wiki?

Im a little embarrassed, i see i have asked alot and then while waiting for help i manage to fix things, I managed to get plasma to start on boot, went from xdm to using sddm. followed the guide.

However i only got one problem now, and that still is the touchpad. As i have mentioned, i wa able to get a normal ubs mouse working. but nothing from my touchpad. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the spam earlier and to be bothering you.

Wish you all a merry Christmas :)

Helping you would be easier if gave some more information about that piece of hardware. What about lsinput and libinput list-devices and xinput? For example see https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Alps_PS/2.
