Since some update this summer, wpa_supplicant sometimes switches my wireless adapter from standard for me wlp4s0 to p2p-dev-wlp4s0. Of course wireless does not work then, until I go and choose the correct adapter manually.

Moreover, by default wpa_cli chooses p2p-dev-wlp4s0 interface. And why ?

Please add p2p_disabled=1 to /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf and join discussion https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-8402846.html#8402846 :)
