Hello,

I'm trying to set up a Xen system with dom0 et domU based on Gentoo.
I have followed the Gentoo wiki but still have an issue. Looking at logs show bridge network take too long to be available, because I'm using IPv6 address and several VLANs. Consequently xenstored service can't attache vif-bridge

Of course, if I manually start domU, all start correctly.

I have add a OpenRC's directive rc_use to ensure xenstored is started after net.br0 but that don't solve the problem because OpenRC script don't know when net.br0 become available.

So to sum-up it is a service dependency problem that I don't know how to solve. Any suggestion?

can you post /etc/xen/xl.conf and brctl show ?

Xenstored service didn't starts network services, i think. Bridge must start with net.br0 symlink in init.d

Xendomains service starts configuration in /etc/xen/auto/

Hello TigerJr,

Thanks for your hint, it seems I have made a mistake in the xl.conf file. After this change:
Code:
vif.default.bridge="br0"

thinks works after the restart of the system.

But a question stay: Why does a manual start of domU was working with the wrong default parameter?

i think that OpenRC configuration and bridge name can changed anyway(i.e. br1, xbr0, xenbr0, or mybridge0), only you can choose name of interface those would bridge virtual ethernet interfaces.
