This is kinda dumb thing I can't seem to figure it out (logically) although I'm sure if I did more research the answer would appear somewhere, but this seems like a good time to pose the question and get some help maybe. In the more or less "untouched" system following a minimal installation with no desktop environment, and only a minimalistic window manager running how would I change the behavior of some applications that are associating the file manager with a program that really isn't meant for interacting with files in that way? Where should I be looking to find some list of file types or else list of applications preference order, since I am not running a DE the answer to this question is obscured.

Please help thanks!
