Hi folks - i've been banging my head against this for too long now, so hoping someone has some insight. When i start up my window manager (kde5) via sddm, i get an unusable black window. To get around this, i have enabled auto-login and im presented with a popup that "ksplashqml" has crashed. I have rebuilt everything under the sun - including completely uninstalling and reinstalling both QT and KDE. there are no messages in dmesg or /var/log/messages, so i'm pretty lost as to where to go next. anyone seen this before?

thanks in advance

You have probably tried this already but I advise you try change your theme. Are you running net runner blue?

Nope - I'm not using net runner blue. but it doesn't matter which theme i choose - they all crash. in fact, i can reproduce the crash simply by navigating to "System Settings -> Appearance -> Workspace Theme -> Splash Screen" and clicking the "Preview" button for ANY of the themes.
