Hi,

Just installed dropbox, as I use few files for my company. And did say dropbox is connected to my computer.

Whta doest it mean? What access has dropbox to my Gentoo? To which files? Could dropbox admin from my company have na access to other files on my computer?

It just means that the Dropbox client that you installed on your machine can sync the contents of the local directory you specified (the default is ~/Dropbox but you can specify a different local directory if you wish), with a directory on a remote server. You can access the contents of the remote directory via a Web browser if you sign-in to your Dropbox account via the Dropbox Web site. If you add, modify or delete a file in the local directory, the Dropbox client on your machine will sync with the remote server and update the remote directory accordingly. If you access the remote directory via the Dropbox Web site and make changes via that, or if someone shares their Dropbox file(s) with you, you will see the changes in the remote directory and the Dropbox client will update the local directory accordingly.

If you have used ownCloud or Nextcloud, Dropbox is very similar to those, i.e. a local client on your machine and a remote server which is also accessible via a Web browser.

Without the ability to audit the Dropbox implementation, it's impossible to say for sure. We can know what Dropbox corporation says the client can and cannot do, but that's not necessarily the same as what it can actually do. If you're concerned, run it in a restricted environment where the kernel will enforce the restrictions you want.
