I readed in the man page of emerge, that the command emerge --sync only is a compatibility command. A newer command named emaint is more flexible and has greater functionality. emerge --sync for example write his log in to /var/log/emerge.log. I would like to know, where does the command emaint put his log? I have a Gentoo-Box with systemd and journalctrl, but there are also no information there.

Futhermore I would like to know, what are the return codes of this command. In man emaint I couldn't find anythings. Also I'm interesting for the return codes of the command emerge.

Is there anybody who knows that?

Thank's for help.
