|

I have an "optimus" laptop (haswell iGP and nvidia 740M GPU) running Gentoo with kernel 4.19.37 and nvidia driver 430.14 where X server works through PRIME (XrandR offloading as per http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/418.74/README/randr14.html )
Until recently everything was just fine, but after some recent update X server started to crash:

I suspect it started after nvidia driver update, but switching back to old driver doesn't help.
Rebuilding xorg-server doesn't help as well...
Full X log is https://pastebin.com/exr7gZLT
xorg.conf is https://pastebin.com/WQc37dCQ

As multiple users and developers across multiple distros have the same issue hit as well, I've filed an official Bugzilla report advising the "compat" USE flag be removed (or at least ignored) from all >=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-430.14 ebuilds.
Until then, please manually disable this USE flag to avoid being blindsided on your next "emerge @world". |
