|I decided to use lightdm and light-locker as display manager and to lock the screen respectively.
|x11-misc/lightdm-1.26.0-r1::gentoo was built with the following:
USE="gnome gtk introspection -audit -qt5 -vala" ABI_X86="(64)"
|x11-misc/light-locker-1.8.0-r1::gentoo was built with the following:
USE="consolekit dpms gtk3 screensaver upower -elogind -systemd" ABI_X86="(64)"
When I boot, I have no problems. However, if I try to lock the screen with Ctrl + Alt + L or by running xflock4, which was modified as follows,
# Lock by xscreensaver, gnome-screensaver or light-locker, if a respective
# daemon is running
for lock_cmd in \
$lock_cmd >/dev/null 2>&1 && exit
# else run another access locking utility, if installed
for lock_cmd in \
"xlock -mode blank" \
"alock -bg blank -auth pam"
set -- $lock_cmd
if command -v -- $1 >/dev/null 2>&1; then
$lock_cmd >/dev/null 2>&1 &
# turn off display backlight:
xset dpms force off
# else access locking failed
the following happens:
- the screen goes black
- if I enter Ctrl + Alt + F8 a black screen is shown
- if I go back to the VT7 (by entering Ctrl + Alt + F7) a lock icon appears saying that the session is locked and that I will be redirected, but nothing actually happens
- if I enter Ctrl + Alt + F8 then the lightdm-gtk-greeter is shown
If I close the laptop's lid and open it again, then only a black screen is shown. Both Ctrl + Alt + F7/F8 show a black screen.
My /etc/lightdm.conf is as follows:
