ok, I recompiled the kernel with agp, dri, radeon, and the ati and ali chipsets as modules. In XFree86.0.log I get everything working, loading drm:
drmOpenDevice: minor is 0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is 7, (OK)
drmOpenDevice: minor is 0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is 7, (OK)
drmOpenDevice: minor is 0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is 7, (OK)
drmGetBusid returned ''
(II) RADEON(0): [drm] created "radeon" driver at busid "PCI:1:0:0"
(II) RADEON(0): [drm] added 8192 byte SAREA at 0xd4a69000
(II) RADEON(0): [drm] mapped SAREA 0xd4a69000 to 0x443ef000
(II) RADEON(0): [drm] framebuffer handle = 0xd0000000
(II) RADEON(0): [drm] added 1 reserved context for kernel
(WW) RADEON(0): [agp] AGP not available
(II) RADEON(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel
(II) RADEON(0): [drm] unmapping 8192 bytes of SAREA 0xd4a60000 at 0x443ef000
Notice the AGP not available message.
I have agpgart and radeon loaded in the kernel. What I am wondering is if the radeon module from the kernl is taking the agpgart slot and that is why agp is unavailable for XFree86.
I will keep you all updated |

In /usr/src/linux/.config, you enabled AGP Support, but did you also select support for your hardware (Intel..., Via..., or ?) ? |
