Makes great sense to me! Many "UFO" sightings in the past indeed turned out to be phenomena that were not flying objects at all. I think it is a more suitable more broad and open-minded label.

Not very inclusive though, what about non-flying objects, that - due to the light or whatever - appear to be flying.
What have you got against non-flying objects, that - due to the light or whatever - appear to be flying ?

yes but UAO (unidentified arial object) would do the same by changing just one letter. anyway it is good that they now again accept sighting reports. who knows what drones fly in the sky or what meteorological phenomenons can be seen and analyzed.
never the less i will call the sightings still UFO as i am not bound to Pentagon orders. you better learn your newspeak

Nothing.
I have no problem with non-flying objects that appear to be flying.
I think that reporting them as Unidentified FLYING Objects is erroneous.
I'm saying it is my opinion that jumping to assumptions based on observation without sufficient investigation is bad. That's what I have a problem with -- poor assumptions. I was applauding that the new classification was MORE inclusive of non-flying unidentified phenomena.

lol. but still it does not cover all the issues you might find in space. it must be something incredible that you see to say WTF. what about less incredible but still interesting events. That is where you need a new term: WTI (Well That's Interesting). I hope Pentagon is reading this as we have now a brainstorm going on here that might be useful.
