I agree. In NZ, maximum-security prisons are apparently expected to commonly have people who will reenter society.

Whether or not there is some moral high-ground to abusing prisoners who should never be released is a different issue. I'd say there isn't. With the one exception being the possibility of gaining information to prevent another horrible event. But that wouldn't be random abuse.

I've come to realize that if I were dictator and could do whatever I wanted...

...this guy would be hanging on the steps of the capitol building, and it would be public.

That's certainly the behavior of a dictator. Some of them may even believe they start out doing The Right Thing for The Right Reasons.

Please... The most tyrannical thing I would do is cram metric down everyone's throat when it comes to anything government controlled (road signs, etc...). The military would make the switch, too, despite popular misconception that they already have.

Of course, the left would probably flip out at my tier-based national carry approach, where every state would be forced to acknowledge at least the highest level national license.

I'just tie him to a gurney and leave a bunch of tools for the victim's families to have fun with. But this is why dictatorships are bad ;)

I'd probably hang the individual behind closed doors, or a firing squad.

For your average run of the mill scum, stocks - public floggings, even the loss of a hand - I'd back those.

I think there's something like that in the Old Testament. Like if you rape someone's daughter, the court hands the perp over to the father, or something.

You mean, the rapist pays 50 shekels to the father, marry the daughter, and cannot divorce the daughter.

I think there is a reason most people ignore that passage completely...

Wut...I don't remember reading that...

EDIT: It's in Deuteronomy 22.

And, again, I cannot trust this because of their religious instructions to lie.

This is different from other religions, where honesty is paramount. Islam specifically tells Muslims to lie.

Stoning "queers" to death is a national pastime in Brunei, which is following Islamic law to the letter.

The murderer being a fellow man trumps the victim's wife getting killed?

That is so fucked up and wrong.

Guilt. What is guilt? Let us explore that.
Is guilt when you feel shame? If I kill my woman for being dishonest with me, getting plowed (raped) by another man, then shooting her with my Mossberg, and still feel shame among my family, am I at guilt then?

This petty talk around the bushes are going nowhere near the truth of anything.
And before anyone talks about IQ. 5....five percent has 130 and above. We have to deal with the rest. Noone above 130 in IQ seems to realise that or are just plainly trying to use it's (the othre 95%) vulnerability to their own good. Now if ever we are talking about gold diggers.

I pity his lawyer.

"Aside from the live stream, the numerous photos, his posts on 8chan detailing his attack, his confession, the fingerprints, the DNA, the ballistics, the video from the other CCTV sources... is there any evidence that my client actually did any of this?"

Unless there is a legal requirement, the defense isn't going to claim he didn't do it. They'll go for mental illness. Personally I don't see how that isn't true. But without a death penalty, pretty much life without parole seems appropriate, regardless of whether or not there is a recognized mental illness.

If history is any guide, a true NAZI would have saved one round for himself. Too bad this poor excuse for a human did not do the same, and save the taxpayers of NZ some money.

Let's be crystal clear. You were comparing the word of a man who has a religious duty to lie any time it can make his faith look better to me, who has no such obligation to lie.

Nope, you walked into an obvious trap.
