Hello Community,

Did someone try already to migrate from official gnome with systemd to the new profile with elogind?
I gave it a try today but still tons of packages pull in systemd, forcing e.g. dbus with systemd flag. Unmerged the candidiates in a chroot but gave up after a while. I followed elogind wiki page firstly and changed the profile.

Curious if someone uses it already and how it performs.

Greetings,

Currently main tree supports elogind packages mainly for cases where the newer package version happens to support it upstream.
There are plans to support elogind GNOME in the main tree, but there is still some work to do. That work is planned to be done after we have GNOME 3.30 available in ~arch from the main tree.
At that point testers who report remaining issues would be most welcome, as I will be limited to virtual machines and using systemd on the host.
I hope to complete GNOME 3.30 within a week or so, and then look at supporting elogind in the remaining packages. gnome-control-center and gdm come to mind, but there were others. Feel free to let me know what still pulls in systemd, or in fact also consolekit, as those need to be moved over to elogind as well. I am best reachable on IRC or e-mail. My forum monitoring is sporadic, just sometimes checking it more often for a week and then not for months.

Many thanks for clarification!

I would be grateful if you let us know when elogind is ready for further testing and I will share my results with pleasure - would you let me/us know your IRC or mail address? I believe the details are not in your forum profile.
