You should provide full build.log

hanj,

Code:
emerge --info
Portage 2.3.51 (python 3.4.8-final-0, default/linux/x86/17.0, gcc-6.4.0, glibc-2.27-r6, 4.14.52-gentoo i686)
...
sys-devel/gcc:            4.6.3::gentoo, 4.7.3-r1::gentoo, 4.8.5::gentoo, 4.9.3::gentoo, 4.9.4::gentoo, 6.4.0-r1::gentoo, 7.3.0-r3::gentoo

You are trying to build gcc-8 with gcc-6. That's not tested. Select gcc-7.3.0 and try again.

On my system I compiled gcc-8.2.0-r6 with gcc-6.4.0-r1 which was ok. But I guess upgrading to 7 as an intermediate step does not hurt.

That did the trick. Thanks for the help!
