Hello.

The problem is masked use flags "neon" and "vfpv3" for emerging media-video/ffmpeg no matter what i tryed to do so far. Neon and vfpv3 are unmasked at use.mask by default/linux/arm/17.0/armv7a profile but stay masked at emerge time. Adding those to use.force or use.unmask at /etc/portage/profile gets no effect. Even commenting lines in base arm profile file /usr/portage/profiles/arch/base/use.mask gives same results.
How to enable those flags for ffmpeg to be configured with --enable-neon and --enable-vfpv3? Ebuild itself seems does not mask anything. Where it happens then?

Code:

# emerge --info
Portage 2.3.51 (python 3.6.5-final-0, default/linux/arm/17.0/armv7a, gcc-6.4.0, glibc-2.27-r6, 4.20.0 armv7l)

deserter welcome to gentoo forum!

These flag seems not masked
/usr/portage/profiles/arch/arm64/use.mask:

# Unmask arm specific USE flags
...
-cpu_flags_arm_aes
-cpu_flags_arm_crc32
-cpu_flags_arm_edsp
-cpu_flags_arm_neon
-cpu_flags_arm_sha1
-cpu_flags_arm_sha2
-cpu_flags_arm_thumb
-cpu_flags_arm_thumb2
-cpu_flags_arm_vfp
-cpu_flags_arm_vfpv3
-cpu_flags_arm_vfpv4
-cpu_flags_arm_vfp-d32

You tried to add in package.use
Code:
media-video/ffmpeg cpu_flags_arm_vfpv3 cpu_flags_arm_neon

Actually i see that problem is solved by using expanded flags rather just "neon vfpv3" so

USE="cpu_flags_arm_vfpv3 cpu_flags_arm_neon" emerge -vp ffmpeg

works as is needed. Thank you very much!

Use inline notation "is dangerous" because next ffmpeg update flags are removed. You should use /etc/portage/package.use to enable these flags definitively
