Hello all. I am having a peculiar issue with SDDM, that I can't find anyone else online who seems to have it. Put simply, it appears that SDDM is looping. When I enter my credentials and hit `enter` to sign in, or click the GUI icon, it goes black, and appears to attempt to initialize KDE Plasma... but then it just goes right back to SDDM. The log file doesn't appear to make a not of this, but if anyone would like to see it, I can provide it.

In addition, `startx` works perfectly to start KDE Plasma manually. I am using Consolekit and eudev. Any help is appreciated.

When you're in sddm what happens if you press F1 and cycle through the sessions -- and pick specific ones?

I got tired of sddm, was too clunky and opted for lightdm...

They all have the same effect. Xsession, KDE, and KDE-Wayland all do the loop.

Which logfile are you looking at?

I believe there should be an ~user/.xsession-errors file, it should contain something useful?

Just to make sure, you do NOT have .Xsession, .Xsessionrc, .Xclients, or .xinitrc in your ~user ?

The home directory (for the root user in this case, don't worry, I'm going to switch to a normal user once I get X up and running) has a .Xauthority and .xinitrc file.

Well, having .xinitrc will mess up the session management in sddm/xinit files for Gentoo, what happens if you don't have it?

I changed to use the non-wayland option. I didn't need it, and things are running fine without it. To me it just wasn't worth the time to try to get it working, based on my needs and available time.
