Makes sense to me. Like most things in observable nature there is a cycle. In this case I would describe the event of "the big bang" as the lowest point of a pendulum that we can't really see past as we swing away from it. Seems plausible that some natural event will cause an eventual collapse of the universe we know as it approaches singularity again to go back the other direction for several billion years. Fun to think about! Thanks for the link.

Did I miss the part about the actual study? This sounds like a job security oriented faith based ideation.

Oh, cosmology. The only field other than weather and gender studies where you get paid to speculate.

Cosmologists just interpret astrometric data as best they can and come up with models. It's up to astronomers to make observations which confirm/falsify cosmological hypotheses.

And praytell what observations by astronomers will confirm that time existed before the big bang? It's not going to be astronomers. Not astronomers in this universe anyway. Nothing they can observe existed before the big bang. Partical physicists, maybe, because they could possibly re-create a micro-bang, if they can figure out how to detect the emergence of a time bubble.

My point is simply to follow up on a past discussion in here were some sophomoric "I haven't been out of college and in the real world very long" people made statements amounting to "we pretty much have all of physics figured out now and will soon have it all figure out". At the time I said, "anybody who can say such things simply has no clue how little we really know and pretty much has their head up their ass". They challenged me to ask something science couldn't answer; I asked "Everything has a context. What is the context of the universe?". They couldn't answer.

I think you were the main person arguing science knew pretty much everything.

Edit: now, that was years ago, and I realize you're probably a lot smarter now. And I also realize I might not be remembering correctly who it was.

With the possible exception of Mick Jagger.

the big bang theory is too static. my universe is pulsating and one where the big bang is multiple times crossed. you can imagine it as the universe is breathing.

Obviously due to the intrer-dimensional space-time warping Ark.

Universes are just bubbles in quantum foam.

And also, check look at this!

Doesn't do anything, but I'm half blind anyway -

or maybe it's the alcohol, +2 resistance to optical illusions.

bubbles yes i have seen that one. some kind of chedar fragmental universe. maybe the most logic explanation for that kind of stuff.
