|
|
Hello,
After last week updates I have disovered that the icon of network manager applet (gnome-extra/nm-applet)
is not shown any more in the system tray area.
But nm-applet is defenetly running. I see it in the list of processes and
in the "Session and Startup" window.
In the list of updates (emerge.log) that may be influence on that are
Code: | 1544334034: === (30 of 45) Compiling/Merging (net-misc/networkmanager-1.14.4::/usr/portage/net-misc/networkmanager/networkmanager-1.14.4.ebuild)
...
1544334938: === (41 of 45) Compiling/Merging (gnome-extra/nm-applet-1.8.18::/usr/portage/gnome-extra/nm-applet/nm-applet-1.8.18.ebuild)
1544334995: === (42 of 45) Compiling/Merging (net-misc/networkmanager-pptp-1.2.8::/usr/portage/net-misc/networkmanager-pptp/networkmanager-pptp-1.2.8.ebuild)

On the forum i found the same problem is already discussed here. But there was no final solution.
I don't think the full rebuild is a right way. Smelling "your Windows is glitching?? Restart it!"
On my site i have XFCE environment, stable portage, nothing special.
Did anybody face of that behaviour?
Or problem is only with settings on my system.
I don't want posting a bug yet.
Thanks

Two things off the top of my head:
1. Is /etc/init.d/NetworkManager running?
2. If you create a new user and log in, do you still have this issue? _________________ Gentoo Studio: A Gentoo-based, professional digital audio workstation OS. |

Yes, NetworkManager is running.
The problem was on my site only. I found the solution, but not reasons.
For some circumstances the plugin libsystray.so from xfce4-panel failed to start. And also I didn't see it in the XFCE Panel configuration window.
After i have rebuilt the xfce4-panel and re-enabled systray plugin in the panel configuration all icons including nm-applet was shown nicely.
I couldn't repeat the erroneous state of systray plugin so couldn't determine what was the reason of this behaviour.
Problem solved.
Thanks a lot! |
