media-libs/harfbuzz fails to emerge / Cannot detect GLIB

I cannot get passed the config phase of harfbuzz when attempting to upgrade from 1.9.0 to 2.2.0 because the config of harfbuzz claims that GLIB cannot be found.

The output of `pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0` is:
2.56.2

In /usr/lib{,32,64} there are libglib-2.0.so, headers exist, etc. in the filesystem.

I have added additional USE keywords for GLIB

dev-libs/glib abi_x86_32 abi_x86_64 dbus mime static-libs
>=media-libs/harfbuzz-1.7.6 abi_x86_32 abi_x86_64 glib truetype

glib is a required USE flag of harfbuzz.

Please help!!!

Please post emerge --info and use wgetpaste to post configure log.

You can post output of emerge -pvq dev-libs/glib and locate glib-2.0.pc (if locate is not installed install sys-apps/mlocate package and run updatedb from root)

This was fixed by re-emerging 'dev-util/pkgconf' (also did 'virtual/pkgconfig' but I doubt that alone did anything).

As a bonus, it fixed a similar issue with 'sys-apps/dbus' as well.

@Chiitoo, you're right on,

I didn't have dev-util/pkgconf but I did have dev-util/pkgconf installed. I rebuilt dev-util/pkgconf and harfbuzz finally built without any problems!

Solution:
1) Rebuild dev-util/pkgconf
2) Reattempt to emerge harfbuzz
