hello,

fresh installed system with openrc + mate and lightdm

why the system needs /var/run/user ?

Code:
none            16451444       20  16451424   1% /run/user/1000

in .xsession-errors i see :

Code:
** Message: 04:24:12.431: couldn't access control socket: /var/run/user/1000/keyring/control: No such file or directory

even though the directory exists.

Code:
ls -la /var/run/user/1000/
total 0
drwx------ 6 someuser root    120 Nov 30 04:24 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 root    root     80 Nov 30 04:24 ..
drwx------ 3 someuser someuser  60 Nov 30 04:24 dbus-1
drwx------ 2 someuser someuser  60 Nov 30 04:24 dconf
drwx------ 2 someuser someuser 100 Nov 30 04:24 keyring
drwx------ 2 someuser someuser  80 Nov 30 04:24 pulse

Code:
ls -la /var/run/user/1000/keyring/
total 0
drwx------ 2 someuser someuser 100 Nov 30 04:24 .
drwx------ 6 someuser root    120 Nov 30 05:27 ..
srwxr-xr-x 1 someuser someuser   0 Nov 30 04:24 control
srwxr-xr-x 1 someuser someuser   0 Nov 30 04:24 pkcs11
srwxr-xr-x 1 someuser someuser   0 Nov 30 04:24 ssh

why gnome-keyring is such a PITA ?

thx

The best explanation I've found so far: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/162900/what-is-this-folder-run-user-1000.

for gnome-keyring in mate: "start menu" > system > preferences > personal > startup applications > uncheck "ssh key agent" and "secret storage service" and "certificate and key storage"
