VPN Unlimited application: "VPN Protocol Connection Error"

Hi all,

I'm trying to get the VPN Unlimited application to work on Gentoo. I started a separate thread recently that got me to the point where the application runs, but it still fails when connecting to the VPN. Unfortunately, the error message is pretty minimal ("VPN Protocol Connection Error"), and I can't seem to get any more debug information from it.

I'm working on putting together an ebuild for it. Obviously I'm either missing a dependency or something else, but I can't quite figure out what. This application works on an Arch installation, so I'm following along with that (see the other thread), but if anyone is familiar with troubleshooting VPNs, or has used this application successfully in the past, please let me know where I should start.
