Hi,

I use a totally encrypted disk (luks+lvm+btrfs).
I separated some partitions to mount them with some specific options e.g. /usr.

I use OpenRC and grub.
In fstab :
Code:
UID=xxx /usr btrfs defaults,nodev 0 2

When booting, i got this warning/error but the boot is finished correctly.

Quote:

md5sum is missing, which suggests /usr is not mounted"
If you have separate /usr, it must be mounted by initramfs"
If not, you should check coreutils is installed correctly"

I'd like to correct this warning message.
So how could i do this ?
Perhaps to use this :
Code:
If you have separate /usr, it must be mounted by initramfs

Thanks for your feebacks.

There's a pretty good guide on how to use initramfs to do what you're talking about found here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Early_Userspace_Mounting

It goes step by step on how to generate a bit of a custom initramfs which includes mounting and file system checks. If you have questions, feel free to follow up here and I can assist where possible.

What's about :
Quote:

Add the initrd line to /boot/grub/grub.conf:

Code:

title Gentoo Linux <version>
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/kernel-<version>-gentoo
initrd /boot/initrd.cpio.gz

There's nothing like that.

Well, it is going to become a log process to compile a new kernel before using it at the next boot since i compile it manually and use dracut. :)

can you post your grub.cfg, and also the results of 'ls -la /boot'

And how did you build your kernel? Manually or via genkernel?
EDIT: You already answered this question - nevermind

So are you not building initramfs at all, then?

What options are you trying to set and on what directories? In some cases, you can get this effect without needing to use separate filesystems.
